Could Avatar get people to think?
Saw Avatar today. Nothing new in the story telling, gorgeous 3D
imagery though. But the reason I write about it here is the reports of
people getting depressed and suicidal after seeing the film.
I agree with a twitterer that folks who get depressed when they
realise they can’t visit the film’s fictional planet should get out
more.
But there seems to be some genuine thinking being provoked as a result
of the film, concerning our western way of life an it’s
sustainability. I think Cameron hits a nerve in a time like this, and I
just hope that the record breaking box office hit will also result in
a few more heads being turned to think about sustainability and our
way of life. Do you think this is possible? Tweet me your answers!
